HOW WE SUPPORT OUR BENEFICIARIES
We support our beneficiaries through a holistic and trauma-informed approach. This practice also benefits our staff and ensures we are delivering a service which is not re- traumatising our beneficiaries.
Building a positive and relatable relationship with our beneficiaries is key! Through personal and professional experience, we have found that young people need to be able to identify, relate and connect with you before a positive relationship can begin to form. Authenticity is key if you want to make solid impact in a young person’s life.
Our preventive mentors have professional and intensive personal lived experiences of some of the challenges young people are facing today’s world.
They were able to turn their pain into their power and are now relatable role models and agents of change within their communities. We showcase our mentors as it provides youth at risk, some real‐life examples of people who have changed their lives for better and are now making meaningful contributions to their communities.
Our employability lead alongside our mentors supports our beneficiaries through teaching them transferrable creative skills (camera operating, digital content creation, editing, presenting and marketing), interpersonal and employability skills (punctuality, presenting professionally, interview techniques and etiquette), so that they can progress into employment opportunities when presented to them.
Our mission is to empower under-represented youth, encourage positive behaviour, and give them a chance to prove their credibility and access creative opportunities that they would otherwise be locked out of. Progressing in this way means that young people are more able to seek and secure further education and employment opportunities resulting in well-rounded individuals contributing to the local community.
